Domaine Charles Père et Fille

Summary

Domaine Charles Père et Fille is situated in Nantoux in the heart of the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune and comprises 14 hectares of vines, 10 of which are Hautes-Côtes de Beaune and 4 hectares of Volnay, Pommard, Meursault and Beaune.

A multi-generational domaine founded by François Charles gained momentum in the 1960s with the purchase of new vineyards. In the 1980s, François’ son Pascal Charles joined the estate team. Together, they expanded the estate, planting new vines and replanting vineyards. Today Pascal and his daughter Pauline manage the domaine.

The estate has long opted for traditional vinification: the grapes are harvested manually, sorted, de-stemmed (with whole cluster fermentation being adopted recently for some cuvées), vatted for 10 to 15 days, with manual pigeage and pneumatic pressing. Pascal and Pauline pay particular attention to the maturation of the wines and adhere to the Burgundian method, in which maturation occurs in French oak barrels. The red wines are matured on lees until bottling and are then filtered to ensure clarity and brightness in the wines.
