VINEYARD: Rizzo Vineyard is a 12 acre organically-farmed vineyard in the Eola-Amity hills of the Willamette Valley. Jory, iron-rich red volcanic soil. Dry-farmed, no till.
FARMING: Organic, Vegan
VINIFICATION: Wild yeast fermentation (25% whole-cluster) in open-top vessels, the cap tended only with the gentlest pigéage, never pumped over or punched down with stainless steel or plastic tools - just by Julia and Scott. Spontaneous fermentation unfolded slowly over 36 days before the wine was pressed at dryness. 9 months on the lees in neutral Burgundy barrels. Bottles unfined and unfiltered by hand.
