Riesling Kabinett Trocken (2022)

VARIETALS
Riesling

NOTES
FARMING: Biodynamic

SOIL: Slate and Quartz

VINEYARD: Lieser Schlossber. Forty- to 60-year old vines planted on a steep valley incline and benefitting from the warmth created from the parabolic mirror effect. The soil is 100% blue devonian shale which adds particular mineral notes to the wine.

Vinification: The grapes were collected in small crates to ensure that they reached the cellar undamaged. In the closed tank press skin maceration lasted a few hours to enhance natural aroma extraction. After an average 12-hour sedimentation period the juice was moved into the fermenter. Indigenous yeast fermentation in stainless-steel tanks. Kept on its lees until filtration in the spring.

After the wet 2021 vintage, 2022 was characterized by intense summer heat. Fortunately, the vines survived the extreme heat and benefitted from September rains which ensured a balanced, harmonious vintage with moderate alcohol levels and rather gentle acidities.
