Summary

Domaine René Malleron is a multi generational domaine based in Sancerre’s south central village of Crézancy. The domaine farms 28.5 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and 6.2 hectares of pinot noir, which it vinifies for Rose and red wines. The soils in this region are Kimmeridgian soil – a clay-limestone terroir rich with with ancient oyster shells said to give the wine a chalky texture. Malleron dedicates a majority of their time to work their vineyards sustainably and very little is done in the winery except for slightly longer macerations that most producers in the region. The results make Malleron’s wines a bit more texturally concentrated compared to most in the region. This has much to do with the amphitheater vineyard plots that create a warmer microclimate to bring sugar levels a bit higher.
