August Cellars
Summary
August Cellars is a family owned winery created in 2002 by the Clarence Schaad Family and is presently run by his grandson, Tom Schaad. The winery is located on land bought by Clarence Schaad in 1942 and is located on Chehalem Mountain, which is part of the AVA Chehalem Ridge.
The farm is approximately 42 acres of contiguous farm land. They have 21 acres of mature English Walnuts, 13 acres of Italian Prunes, a 13 acre Pinot Noir vineyard that is leased out and about 6 acres of woods and the winery itself which is located at the bottom of the orchards just off of Highway 99W.
The Schaads have always believed in sustainable and low impact farming. To this end, they work to minimize the use of pesticides and herbicides in both orchards above the winery as well as the vineyards.
