Summary

Quinta Várzea da Pedra is a fourth generation wine farm based in the Óbidos Sub-region of Portugal’s Lisboa DO. Brothers Tomas and Alberto Emidio took control of the 15 hectares of family vineyards and cellar in 2015, and started bottling part of the production, focusing on quality and character. The work in the vineyards is free of chemicals, practicing organic and the harvest is made by hand emphasizing careful handling of grapes which are then fully destemmed, crushed by foot and fermented spontaneously. Wines are made with a minimalist approach, so very little SO2 and no fining or filtration. Wines are primarily made in stainless steel and concrete tanks, and primarily aged in bottl.e

The DOC Óbidos region is situated in the larger eastern Lisboa VR. The clay and limestone soils and close proximity to the ocean create a unique micro-climate, which are ideal conditions for white wines such as Arinto and Fernão Pires, as well as exciting reds from Syrah and Touriga Nacional.
